Hi everyone,

I’m currently going into my 3rd year of Optometry and have started looking into pre-registration opportunities in Birmingham for when I begin my pre-reg year in 2027. Alongside university, I’ve been building up as much experience as possible.

I currently work two part-time jobs, including as an Optical Assistant at Vision Express, where I’ve gained hands-on experience working with patients, supporting the practice team, and learning more about the optical industry day to day. I also work at DHL, which has helped me develop strong teamwork, organisation, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment. Before that, I worked in customer service roles, which have given me a lot of confidence when dealing with people from all backgrounds. I’m keen to find a practice where I can continue learning, develop my clinical skills, and become the best optometrist I can be.

If you know of any practices in Birmingham that may be recruiting pre-regs for 2027, or if you have any advice on the application process, I’d love to hear from you.
