The MODERATO trial - help required. was created by Andrew D Price
Which low-dose atropine concentration works best for children in Europe?
The answer will help shape the future of myopia management - but we need the evidence.
The MODERATO trial, a randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial sponsored by OCUS, is currently recruiting children and young people aged 3–17 years with myopia of at least −0.75 D in both eyes at baseline.
The study is taking place at centres across the UK (London, Birmingham, Belfast), Italy, Spain, Poland and Albania. Participants are randomly allocated to receive 0.05% atropine, 0.025% atropine or placebo, and remain in the trial for 2 years.
Children with eye conditions other than myopia, or who have previously used atropine, myopia-control spectacles or myopia-control contact lenses, are not eligible to participate.
If you know a child and family who might be interested in taking part, you can find your nearest trial centre and learn more about the study here:

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with colleagues, families and anyone who may know a child who could be eligible. Every participant brings us one step closer to understanding how best to slow myopia progression in children.
