Hello colleagues:

When a patient presents wearing a brand-named contact lens, are you frustrated not to know it’s true identity and clinical characteristics? How do you replicate that successful lens or indeed avoid re-prescribing it, if it is not appropriate?

How can you judge if you can improve oxygen transmission, modulus, or Rx (is a higher cyl available?) etc if you don’t know exactly which lens your new patient is wearing?

I am in the process of mapping not only the brand names of UK available contact lenses to one another and to their ‘real’ manufactured name but also vitally at the same time their clinical data.

To use this valuable resource simply go to eyedropsdatabase.co.uk/professional and in Product Keyword Search type the lens name, single specific words work best, as an example to narrow search the word VITREA is far more specific than SPECSAVERS.

All help in this continuing project gratefully received, I hope this will be extremely useful for us as ECPs and our patients.
