Is there anything new in Dry Eye - its prevalence, impact and diagnosis! C- 115463 - 1 interactive CPD PointWed, Mar 11, 2026 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM GMT
Can there really be anything new and unknown to the primary eye care professional in the field(s) of ‘dry eye’? It looks like there actually could be, perhaps something as basic as the term ‘dry eye’ needs reappraisal, it’s time to get specific. Only then can we make a meaningful diagnosis and help our patients. Do our patients have the wrong diagnosis and perhaps this explains why their self-selection of treatments are ineffective. Let’s look afresh at this disease, its prevalence, impact and diagnosis, identify what shouldn’t be included and use our skills, education, experience, and technology to really identify the specific cause of their ocular surface symptoms. Considering your role in practice- • Clinical practice (s5.3) After successful completion of this CPD practitioners will be able to describe the different subclassifications of dry eye disease taking into account the latest clinical research and apply this to daily clinical practice. (s7.5) After successful completion of this CPD practitioners will recognise eye conditions that can mimic the symptoms of dry eye disease and refer appropriately. • Leadership and accountability (s8.1) After successful completion of this CPD practitioners will recognise the importance of maintaining clear legible and contemporaneous records for any advice, discussions, and management of patients with dry eye disease.
