Reading this article brought back memories of patients' fainting on me; one during GAT, another after first contact lens placement, another on the slit-lamp, but before any physical contact, so it will happen.

Also recall, I passed out during a impacted wisdom tooth extraction and a lumbar puncture (not at the same time!) not helped by the fact that both were university teaching hospitals and both procedures were accompanied by vivid descriptions of what could go wrong by the doctor to the students!
